The whole city is blacked out and it looks like it may have even hit the entire tri-state area. Probably some stupid Canuck up north spilling a beer on the control panel again or whatever. Well—I’m feeling lazy and don’t have anything to say so this will be an open call-in. Caller—you’re on the air—“ “This is George from Jersey City, Marty. Long time listener—first time caller. Look I don’t think this is just any normal blackout, Marty. There were these crazy flashes of lights all over the place just a few seconds before the power went out.” “So George—what do you think is the explanation for those lights?” “Isn’t it obvious man? It’s them aliens! They’re running some crazy experiment on us like that Twilight Zone episode—trying to see if we’ll turn on each other or whatever.” “George—why don’t you just take the blue pill and wake up from the Matrix and stop bothering me? (line disconnects) God! Okay—caller, you’re on the air—“ “Marty? This is Simone from New Hyde Park. I think there’s something weird going on. Can anybody hear us?! We were on approach to Hamilton airport when…when….there was this flash of light and now it’s gone! The whole airport is gone! Just gone! And half the city too! What the hell is happening?! There’s this crazy looking forest where the city used to be and I swear I think I see movement down there! Can anyone hear us?!–“ ** “—Dam break warning in--“ ** “--Wild fire warning—“ ** Police transcript –Tipton, Indiana patrol car #1-3- investigating unexplained communication breakdown with police department in Kokomo, Indiana (pop. 46,113) Patrolman: “Julia! Are you there?” Dispatcher: “Yeah Harry. Have you found out—“ Patrolman: ”It’s gone! The whole place is gone!” Dispatcher: “Uh—what’s gone?” Patrolman: “Practically the whole fucking town, that’s what!” Dispatcher: “Harry—if this is one of your jokes again—“ Patrolman: “For fuck’s sake I’m being serious here! Me and Mike are at the East County Road and it’s…it’s…gone! From the Delco plant to Crown Point Cemetery and from Darrough Chapel to just past Highland Park! It’s gone! All the buildings are gone! Now there’s—like—trees and rocks and stuff there!” Dispatcher: “Wait—nothing but trees?...” Patrolman: “Weird looking ones too! This place is freaking me—Mike? Where the hell are you walking out to? (unintelligible) What do you mean you thought you saw something? What the fuck did you see? (unintelligible) I don’t give a shit if you’re not sure! Get back in here—“ (sounds of screaming) Patrolman: “—JESUS CHRIST! Man down! Man down! I need fucking backup! Now Goddamnit! Now! (sounds of growling) Patrolman: “Get away from me! GET AWAY!” (sounds of several gunshots being fired followed by screaming and growling) Dispatcher: Harry? Harry?! HARRY?!? ** “--Landslide warning—“ ** “—power outage--“ ** “—911 Telephone Outage Emergency—“ ** CB transmission—unknown truck driver “Is there anybody out there?! My rig broke down about ten miles outside Boise and there’s…there’s….these things all around my rig! Oh Jesus! Oh jesusjesusjesusjesus (weeping sounds) Please! They’re trying to break in through the windows! I’m not sure how much longer they’ll hold!
