Arnstadt is a small world with a thin atmosphere. The oceans look like green tinted milk thanks to the local microscopic sea life.
The world was colonised during the great dispersion by ethnic Germans. Arnstadt orbits far from its sun, which is a red giant. Daylight is comparable to levels experienced at dawn on
earth, not enough to support conventional agriculture based on imported grains.
Instead the local plant life has been adapted to human tastes and now serves as a popular export. Most plant life is analogous to giant fungi, some examples grow two hundred feel in
height.
Most settlements are located in low lying areas, the air is to thin at high altitudes to support strenuous human activity, though locals have built a high level of tolerance to
oxygen deprivation.
In the last thirty years the colony has begun to make the transition to a technology based economy, supported by several leading scientific institutes and universities. One of the
Universities was hit by a scandal in 2597 when it was discovered to be secretly developing Bitek, in direct contravention of the governments Adamist proscriptions against such technology. Arnstadt’s main
technological export is in the field of advanced nanonics and complex sensor equipment.
