Avon is the administrative capital of the Confederation. Both the Confederation Assembly and the Navy are based here. In 2271 it was the Avon government that organised the summit of
planetary heads in order to deal with the increasing use of antimatter weapons in interplanetary conflict. The Confederation was created to ensure that an independent force could both arbitrate disputes and police
the newly agreed perpetual moratorium of all development and use of antimatter.
In 2605 Avon has grown quite wealthy through its status as the Confederation capital. There is a high number of transients living here, including a million and a half people working
in the diplomatic sector.
The Confederation Navy is not based on the surface but rather one of the orbiting asteroids, which was given wholly to the fledgling confederation navy in 2281 (to ensure that they
were completely independent of undue influence by the Avon government.
Trafalgar supports about 300,000 inhabitants although many of these are transients, including civilian contractors from Avon.
There is a large Edenist presence in the system, orbiting the gas giant Ocymum. There are twelve cloud scoops in operation, collecting and storing confederation reserves of
Helium 3.
