Botany Bay is an Ocean covered world which has repeatedly had its land based life forms extinguished by meteor strikes. The absence of any moon increases the frequency of meteor
strikes, the last major strike happened only five hundred years ago. While the surface conditions are currenly back to normal, it is clear from the state of the land masses that very little surface life
survived.
There are a number of research centres that are investigating the remains of the extinguished life.
The main inhabitants are invets who have been offered better than normal working conditions in return for setting up basic facilities for a future colonisation project. Normally the
task of setting up basic infrastructure is handled by specialist engineers. However, due to Botany Bay’s lack of resources it is doubtful that a full and permanent colony will be settled any time soon. However,
while Botany Bay interests the scientific community it will require a small population of service personnel and amenities.
