Cadiz, Like Nyvern was settled as part of the desperate push to disperse Earth’s huge population. Spanish and Portuguese colonists settled in the collection of small equatorial land
masses, with the main aim of developing fishing and agriculture.
Expansion was rapid and Cadiz was soon considered one of the most desirable places to emigrate to.
However, poor management of fish reserves and a number of natural catastrophes lead to a virtual collapse in the local economy.
Separatist groups attempted to gain control, then to break away from the main government which lead to civil war.
In the last hundred years there has been no longer than eight years without some form of interracial conflict. The current government is in fact operating under the watchful eye of
General Victor Ramera, whose army took control from the Cadizian peoples Democratic Union in 2601 A.D.
Things have begun to settle down, Ramera has pledged to set up a system for introducing viable and accountable political parties, and has time tabled democratic elections within five
years. The Confederation Navy uses orbital facilities to house supplies for it’s 7th Fleet. Now that the political situation on the ground has stabilised it is hoped that planet side facilities will be developed.
Many of the citizens who have been displaced in the fighting have formed nomadic fleets which wander the islands following seasonal work.
