Castilla is an ethnic Catalan (from northern Spain) colony that was established in 2221. Castilla is a tropical world with warm salty seas and a cluster of small mountainous
continents that lay in a mostly equatorial zone.
The population has an increasingly large industrial base both in orbit and in the highlands of five of the nine continents.
Castilla's native life is
ocean bound, apart from a simple moss analogue. Animals and plants from Earth have been adapted and transplanted, providing the colony with a large number of conventional crop and cattle farms.
Although the world is ruled by a democratic congress, A monarch ultimately controls both the government and the Church. The technology level on Castilla is not as high as would be
expected from its socio-economic index. It does however export quite a lot of basic industrial equipment, textiles and agricultural produce.
Most heavy industry is contained within the growing ring of asteroids which have a collective population of 15 million.
