Neweire was settled by Euro-ethnic (Irish) Roman Catholics in 2497. The world is currently in an ice age which covers about 60% of the surface in ice. Extensive volcanism provide
regions with above freezing temperatures and a good source of food, in terms of both simple plant and ocean life.
The original colonist had planned to initiate a modest terra forming project to end the ice age. Stage one colonisation proved to be to costly and to few colonists have settled to
world to give it much hope of developing a technological society.
Neweire although a cold and desolate place with most of its population close to poverty nether the less attracts a reasonable number of visitors who come to enjoy its unspoilt beauty.
