Ngenui was charted and claimed almost twenty years ago. The system was licensed for colonisation by a collection of corporations based at the Lagos Archology, on Earth.
Unfortunately due to problems with funding, the actual colonisation effort stalled until 2597, when an unknown interested ensured that the development load was secured.
Currently a team of 150 personnel are placing down base camps and verifying survey results prior to the arrival of the first colonists in 2608.
Ngenui experiences a rather extreme seasonal variation which ranges from temperate to excessively hot. The planned site for the toehold colony will be on the coast of the southern
continent.
The world is covered in rain forests which are very similar to those that existed on Earth, hundreds of years ago.
Colonisation efforts are overseen from a retired bulk freighter which has been placed in geosynchronous orbit above the proposed colony site.
Rumours of ancient alien ruins which circulated a couple of years ago are believed to have been engineered by senior staff of the Lagos Colonial Development Department in the hope
that it might draw interest from speculative investors. The rumours do however persist.
