Orshanko is the capital world of the Japanese Imperium, a collection of eight major colony worlds settled by the Japanese.
In 2301 A.D. Orshanko’s government restored the Japanese Emperor to his thrown. As Japan was an established part of govcentral with no place for a ruling monarch, Orshanko the most
populous and successful of Japans colonies was seen as a natural new home for the Emperor.
While the government still maintains political authority,all political parties must be sanctioned by the Emperor. The result of reintroducing the anachronistic form of government has
enhanced political stability and helped Orshanko to become the third wealthiest system in the Confederation, after Earth and Kulu.
It is curious to note that Japan, and a number of major Japanese colonies remain outside of the Imperium, usually as a result of fears of the local population that membership of the
Imperium will cost them more than it will gain them.
