Roherheim is first settled as a dedicated penal colony, back in 2187 the world was considerably less hospitable. The star system has no gas giants from where Helium3 can be mined,
normally the kiss of death for a prospective colony. The main star is an old Red Giant, the planetary system little more than rubble and iceballs. Roherheim was once had a verdant, highly evolved ecosystem,
although successive meteor and cometary strikes have knocked it back into a deep ice-age. When the first survey ship arrived in orbit, it was initially thought that the world would be far to cold to easily sustain
life. Close inspection identified that the equator and northern seas were much warmer than expected, thanks to geothermal heating.
Initially written off as a potential colony, criminals convicted of victimless crimes were offered a new life and a lump sum if they volunteered to work on a number of industrial
outposts.
Within twenty years the outposts communities were making a healthy profit, regular immigrants were arriving along side the ex-convicts, many of which had settled into positions of
authority.
In 2290 Roheheim had well established primary industries and began to increase it’s manufacturing base, attracting a further rush of immigration. For a time it had the fastest
growing population of any Colony.
Today Roheheim is a moderately wealthy world with a government lead by an elected council of senior statesmen, attitudes are conservative and deeply Adamist in sentiment. The
Confederation’s 7th Fleet has long been established on one of the worlds larger orbiting asteroids.
