Tanis is the main colony of the Eurosian colonisation zone, a collection of fifteen systems which were colonised by different groups from Russia, The Caucasus and Central Asia.
Tanis is a dry world covered in deserts and mountains. It’s weather patterns are notably violent. Most of its 200 million inhabitatants Live on the coasts of valley based lakes and
narrow polar seas. The Equatorial area is to hot and stormy for regular inhabitation.
There are a number of major mining concerns that are located on the equatorial mountains, There are large supplies of rare earth metals and gold which are strip mined at negligible
cost.
The inhabitants are almost exclusively Muslim, although members of other religions are not excluded from immigration.
Tanis remains reliant on trade to make up for a shortfall in agricultural production, It is however, not a poor world, it has industrial asteroid stations which have well developed
starship construction facilities that serve many of the neighbouring systems.
