Tropicana was originally settled by inhabitants of the two Caribbean archologies which had become the homes of all the islanders from across the region when Earths climate first
began to destabilise.
Although considered a beautiful paradise, the relatively small land mass made the world unsuitable for the kind of expansion that the settlement of a major nation would likely bring.
It was therefore used to settle Caribbean nationals, who only numbered about 6 million.
Currently Tropicana is considered one of the most popular tourist resorts in the Confederation, although it is not tourism that makes its great weath, which is immense relative to
its population.
It is the only None Edenist colony in the whole confederation to have relaxed the proscriptions against Bitek. Over the last four hundred years it has developed a large Bitek industry, providing
all sorts of products which would be highly illegal on any other Adamist world. How Tropicanan’s got away with setting up its Bitek industry is considered a mystery. Some historians believe that it was able to
survive because powerful interests on Earth felt that it was important for Adamist society to have some understanding of Bitek in the unlikely event that a conflict should occur with Edenism. Many wealthy Adamists
use the cover of a Tropicana vacation to receive proscribed Bitek or Gene treatments to extend their lives or enhance their abilities.
