The settlement rights for the immensely metal rich asteroids was violently contested by the governments of Garrissa and Omutan. A contest that turned into a genocidal war. The entire
planet bound population of Garrissa was killed by antimatter bombs dropped by Omutan hired mercenaries.
The confederation awarded the Dorados belt to the 2 million or so Garrissan survivors that had not been present on their home world at the time of the antimatter attack.
The Garrissans elected senior survivors with business experience to form the Dorados Development Authority which set about to exploit the belts massive financial potential. Companies
from throughout the Confederation have set up mining operations and pay the DDA a leasing fee.
It is hoped that as the systems industrial might increases it will begin to shift to starship manufacturing.
The Edenists have seeded two habitats around the gas giant Duida, though only one, Ramtheni, is old enough to be able to support inhabitants. One cloudscoop has been put in place,
well before it would normally be economically viable. The Helium3 market is still quite small, clearly the Edenists believe that the Dorados is quickly going to grow into a major economic power.
