Edenist  crews are carried in a habitation module, normally a torus structure which is bonded to a circular groove on the voidhawk’s upper surface at maturity. There is a groove on the lower surfaces to carry extra mechanical systems  such as communication units, extra power plants and weaponry. Housed within the upper crew ring is some form of flyer or shuttle craft as Voidhawks are incapable of operating below low orbit. Any visit to a planetary surface requires a separate landing craft.

All voidhawks are used exclusively by Edenists, they are an integral part of Edenist society. The captains of Voidhawks are effectively born with their voidhawk, gestating within their voidhawk ‘twin’ for the first 12 months of their embryonic development. The result is a perfect synchronisation of the Affinity bond as well as an powerful bond of love between the two. After a years growth the  captain is returned to their home and human family for normal infant development. From this point on both infant captain and voidhawk can share their thoughts with one another.

The infant voidhawk remains floating in the birthing grounds of a planetary ring system (like Saturn’s) where they accumulate mass for growing. Most Voidhawks take between seventeen and twenty years to fully mature, depending on the composition and richness of their birth ring. The more carbonaceous material and frozen gas is available, the quicker a Voidhawk will grow.

Most Voidhawks Are born in the rings of Saturn, It’s material  composition perfectly matches what the voidhawk was designed to consume during growth. There are several other systems which provide birthing grounds, these include Corellstal and Bagarsnin, which both possess extensive ring systems. .
