Voidhawks travel by manipulating gravity, much of their internal organs are devoted to patterning and focusing energy to this effect.

It is analogous to a surfer who can create a wave under his board, slides gracefully along without need for apparent thrust. The speed and acceleration limits of a voidhawk greatly exceed what any human crew could withstand. Voidhawks can create a secondary localised manipulation of gravity to provide the crew with both normal gravity for ease of operation, as well as cusioning inertial effects experienced in acceleration. However this counter gravity manipulation can only exert a maximum of 3 earth gravity’s, When the void hawk accelerates faster than this the crew must endure the normal effects of high gee manoeuvres by strapping in.

3g is the acceleration experienced in a racing car or roller coaster for a few seconds, during combat the crew might experience prolonged exposure to acceleration as high as 6 gee, or as high as 15 gee for a few moments

Voidhawk crews have genetic modifications that provide them with enhanced high gee tolerance (through the strengthening of internal membranes and organs)

Actual intersteller travel takes place through the generation of a wormhole, through which the voidhawk can shortcut to their destination. The wormhole is generating ahead of the voidhawk and is called ‘swallowing’.
