Title: Starmaat
Author: Rodlox.
Summary: A summation of a scientific journal article from another timeline.
Divergence: Ancient Egypt, pre-Greek era.

Starmaat.

For millennia, it has been an axiom of our civilization, that all things are ruled by maat - balance in all things.

With the codification of the Rules Governing Gravity two hundred years ago, however, panic began to arise among the people: if everything ultimately goes down to a centre of gravity, is 'up' any good?  Good for what?  Some scholars and generals have traced the nation's string of military losses to the depression so rampant among the army and navy and their civilian kin.

With the invention of the telescope, and the ensuing discovery of the Attican moons, much of the nationwide "funk" abated, thanks to the discovery and codification of the Rules Governing Orbits.  However, even that did not prove comforting to some intellectuals, who asked if an orbit is the counterbalance to gravity.

Within the past few years, studies of our Sun - using newly-crafted high-powered powerful telescope lenses - have revealed to mortal eyes  the true counter to gravity: a powerful force whose existence made manifest in the truly massive jets and eruptions seen on our Sun's surface.

Starmaat.
