On February 16th 1982,

Jackson, Sr. honoured a key campaign pledge by signing new legislation
that completely banned the use of slave images in advertised products.
By this time of course the most notoriously crass commercials had already
been rebadged. By way of example to arguably one of the least
offensive products, "Darkie Toothpaste" had been relabelled to "Darlie
Toothpaste".
However, even in this more enlightened age, residual images of historic
archetypes such as "Uncle Ben" and "Aunt Jemima" were still impinging upon
the American consciousness. Without refering explicitly to those
particular brands, President Jackson emphasised that racist product
packaging depicting obsequoious role models from history could have no
place in the Progressive Modern Confederacy now that the rainbow nation
had begun to find " common
ground".

Imagine what would be, if history had occurred a bit
differently. Who says it didn't, somewhere? These fictional news items
explore that possibility. Possibilities such as America becoming a Marxist
superpower, aliens influencing human history in the 18th century and Teddy
Roosevelt winning his 3rd term as president abound in this interesting
fictional blog.
