The Cradle of Civilisation United!

“This is truly a great day for the European Union”!  “Just moments ago President Sikorskey of Poland signed the historic treaty that marks the passage of the former Soviet Republics into our glorious Union”!  “This of course will be the first step in a long struggle to rebuild the shattered remnants our beloved Eastern Europe left by the tyranny of Communism.  With Germany now unified and brought fully into the Union, and the collapse of the Soviet Union there is nothing to stop us from now retaking Europe’s right to rule itself”.

“Earlier today Premier Tony Blair, leader of the Union made his speech that will be remembered through the ages”:

In the words of a far greater leader than I, “I do not believe this is the beginning of the end, but, perhaps it is the end of the beginning”.  Europe has stood on the brink so many times, that it makes me proud that at last we are standing together, on our own to feet.  And not only this!  We are also welcoming a new European brother into our Union.  Poland, and all the other former Soviet block countries, had a Destiny, a Destiny that they were cruelly denied by the Communist menace.  We in the rest of Europe had to rely on ourselves, ever since the failure of the Berlin Airlift, Europe has had to single handedly build itself anew, a nation within itself.

And look at what we have built!  A magnificent nation, constructed on the bloodshed and feuding of the past, on the fear and hatred, on the endless tyrannies and persecutions, we the people of Europe point-blank refused to be fade into the night, to be thrown upon the ash heap of history!  Never again shall we waste our precious legacy on pointless wars between ourselves!  All those fifty years ago, the leaders of Europe who had been betrayed by the United States, abandoned to be devoured by the Russian Bear, came together in the name of Unity, Order and Justice!  On that day, the world changed forever, Europe came together and as one they held the line against the Iron Curtain!  Now that threat has lifted, but betrayal can never be forgiven!  All those years ago, when we needed support from our American Allies, because of one failure and because they allowed the Red Menace to stare them out they left Europe to the wolves.  We cannot forgive them, just as the thousands who died of starvation in Berlin in 1947 cannot forgive them, just as the people of Greece cannot forgive them.

Now, the world will hear our voice!  The Cradle of Civilisation is United at last, and we will have our vengeance!  Long Live the Union!  Long Live Europe!

“That speech made today began the ceremony to initiate Poland into the European Union.  Amid cheering crowds in Warsaw the EU delegation presented the treaty to President Sikorskey, and at 10:38am it was signed, and history was made.  Afterwards the parade of ten thousand soldiers of the newly completed European Army marched through the capital.  For an hour, joyous troops of European Army had flowers and other gifts presented to them by hundreds of thousands of civilians.  The jubilation in Poland and all across Europe is indescribable, the people know that they have reached a turning point, that nothing will stop their inexorable march to Victory.  The newly built Government buildings of Poland now have the national flag of Europe flying above them.  The white circle of stars on the field of black are a testament to the courage and determination Europe has shown for the past fifty years.

“Of course, next on the agenda will be the addition of other Former Soviet block nations to the Union, including Hungary, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Sweden and Finland.  All these nations have voiced their desire to become part of our sacred Destiny”.

This is Morgan Harvey, reporting from Warsaw, Goodnight.
