Measures taken to combat Spam - Important

Hi everyone, as you’ve probably noticed, we’ve all been getting spam emails to the CTT group and I personally have been getting increased spam sent to me personally – not through the group.  I’ve been trying to discover why and one possible answer is that the f*****s have been ‘reading’ the email addresses off the website and using them as the address for their useless, cursed, blah blah blah emails.

What I’ve started doing is simple.  I’ve gone through most of the site and removed most of the email links to my main email.  Instead, I’ve created a page with some basic information about myself and a rigged email address that would defeat any computer program designed to automatically pick up email addresses.  I think the problems their servers and ISPs would have in dealing with the bouncing back emails should make life a bit miserable for them and, at the least, its not coming my way.

Logically, however, everyone who’s submitted an AH to the site and has an email address on site should have the same problem (if you don’t, please email me).  Therefore, I can create individual pages for any of your who want them along the same lines as mine, if that’s what you want, please inform me ASAP (while I have lots of time to make the changes) and send in answers to the basic information displayed on my page.  Unless you only have a few AHs, I can’t list them all, so nominate a few faves if you want.  (If not, I’ll choose my favorites from yours.)

The other option is a little more tricky because of the amount of editing it would take, but I can replace the email links with links to any site you have of your own.  I know that David, John and a few others have sites, so if you want me to link there instead, please inform me.

At the risk of sounding like one of those really annoying flight attendants, thank you for your cooperation.

Chris
