Hi all

Its new year now and we all need to make a few resolutions.  I did consider resolving to finish a few AHs that never quite got finished, but I’m not quite sure how far to take them.  David’s ‘Invasion of 1915’ AH was developed from discussions the two of us had, so a bit of mine – which has far more political detail and a more pessimistic view of the changes of German success – is in his.  I may finish mine, or someone can have the draft copy.  Another one I thought up was Hitler and Stalin getting into a war just after the fall of Poland.  I got quite some distance on that, but never finished it.

Incidentally, this year marks CTTs second year.  We’ve done lots of writing between us, so I hope all the visitors enjoy reading it.  Please comment on any AH you like, the writers need to know that people care.

I’m actually doing a lot of modifications to the site, including the use of author pages (so I can keep track of who did what, example: Christopher Nuttall, Scott Palter) and turning parts of the website (got lots of space) into an archive.  That’s much more reliable, in my view, than providing a dedicated links page.  I do, of course provide links to contributor web pages, but anything else is effectively random.

That said, I’ve often considered an update newsletter of some kind on the AH world.  Thanks to Scott, I found a site that does ‘blogs’ and I have decided to open a blog website.  People have been asking me what happens to the ideas that don’t see print, as well as ideas that I don’t use or better updates about the alternate history world.  A blog is something similar to an electronic diary – as this is public I think I’ll keep my juicy bits out, LOL – and it will be updated irregularly.

Apart from advertising it here, I’m looking for people to help me maintain it.  I need people willing to keep an eye out for interesting articles, comment on them, and post them.  If you’re interested, drop me an email or post here.

The blog will contain:

-Copies of interesting articles with AH implications, some commentary by me

-News of updates to Alternate History Sites, new AH books, etc

-My ideas that have not yet become full AHs.

-Plus anything else that interests me.

The blog is at http://alternatehistory.blogspot.com/

Bookmark and read regularly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The contents of the blog WILL NOT be emailed round the Yahoo Groups or the mailing list.  I will try to set up an email account that will do that, but that will be separate from the other CTT stuff.

Chris
